Diapering Basics Registry
AIO Comparison Chart

This chart was developed for a local customer who was struggling to research thoroughly each diaper and determine what AIO would work best for her son.  Since its hurried creation, it has been shared with about 5 other customers who were wanting a comparison of AIO's.  Although this page is far from beautiful, I offer it here and hope you find it beneficial in your research.  As I update this in early 2010, I am saddened at the apparent demise of the AIO diaper as One-Size pocket diapers take the majority.  AIO's are sheer easiness.  They go on, wash, dry, and go on again as one piece.  They often take longer to dry but that isn't extra work for me. When they come out of the dryer, I don't have to put two pieces together or find a cover.  I can grab them right out of the laundry basket and use; throw them in a diaper bag; or if I want to feel highly domestic stack them neatly in the changing table basket.

Disadvantages

Fluffy.  Has a snap in trifold soaker.

May not accommodate a heavy wetter without a doubler. After putting diaper on, we suggest checking to see that it is tucked in around edges correctly. Amazingly, it usually is fine. Diaper generally needs doublers added for medium to heavy-wetters.  Diaper doesn't have elastic at the back waist which can allow poop to escape if stools are still loose. Biggest disadvantage is they don't have a size that would fit a newborn baby well.   Biggest disadvantage is the outer waterproof layer being vinyl coated and stiff.  Does not have back waist elastic and poop can escape up the back.   This diaper only is made in a newborn size. Easier to use than the snap version.  Just fold down the front to the desired rise and close diaper. There are a lot of snaps to this diaper and it may be more bulky than desired in the smaller settings. Pocket can be challenging to stuff when needing more absorbency. This diaper needs to be fitted on baby and doesn't fit all babies well. Diaper has a snap down rise in front that would seem uncomfortable. Diaper is no longer available. This diaper has trimmed down over the years and isn't excessively bulky now.  You still may not want it under clothing because it is too cute. Diaper will need a doubler added into pocket for heavy wetters.

Diaper is no longer available.

What I personally like about this diaper I love the soft prints especially the dalmation. I like that this diaper is no-fuss.  Put on and go.  The XS size is just perfect for a tiny newborn. I like that this diaper provides an economical choice in organic diapering. I like the prints a lot, but not enough to overcome its lack of elastic at the back waist. I love this diaper it is so easy to use.  Love the prints too.  If I have to, I can stuff the diaper and use overnight. I do not like this diaper.  I do not recommend. This is an easy newborn diaper and is on my short list for a future newborn.   Gives an affordable option to the AIO style by its use throughout the sizes. Gives an affordable option to the AIO style by its use throughout the sizes. I like that this diaper has an organic fabric next to babies skin.  I like the leg casings. This is one of the trimmest diapers I have used.  These diapers are simply adorable. We used them as show off diapers under dresses. These make diaper changes easier when baby doesn't want a diaper change. I love the gussets on the legs on this diaper. Perfect for newborn chicken legs and for hard to fit babies.
