Diaper Systems is a modern take on the prefold and cover. Each system will have an outer diaper shell and an insert. Some shells and inserts will snap together. Some inserts will merely lay inside the shell or fit under flaps on the shell.
The diaper systems allow you to replace the insert when soiled and reuse the diaper shell. It is often best to air the diaper shells between usage. Generally, people plan to use 3 inserts per 1 diaper shell. For a newborn you may need more shells and for toddler you may need less shells.
The diaper shells can be used as standard diaper covers and most of the inserts can also be used as lay-in inserts for use in any other diaper shell or diaper cover. The diaper systems are very versatile and offer an inexpensive option for diapering.
