RECOMMENDED CARE INSTRUCTIONS BY BRAND

Some products have slightly different care instructions from another. This can be especially true for initial washing instructions. Products are listed alphabetically by manufacturer.

BabyKicks Hemparoo® Diapers and Doublers
Please wash your BabyKicks Hemp products, separate from any fleece items, at least three times in super-hot water with detergent. After the 3 initial washes they should be absorbent enough to use. However, hemp/cotton fabric will not gain its maximum absorbency until after about the 10th wash.

After your initial washes, feel free to wash your BabyKicks products with other diapering items following our General Washing and Drying Instructions for everyday use.

What detergent can I use?
You should only use detergents that are free of dyes, enzymes, perfumes, whiteners and brighteners. Using detergents containing these ingredients will cause damage to your diaper including elastic failure and leaking.
What should I avoid?
Do not use extra additives in your wash (like baking soda or vinegar). These ingredients are unnecessary and will cause problems in your diapers. Do not use fabric softeners. Diaper rashes should be treated according to your physician's recommendations. If you need to use a rash cream, you should use a stay-dry liner or a piece of fleece between your baby's bottom and the diaper to prevent the cream from transferring onto the diapers.

Imse Vimse Organic Diaper Covers
Imse Vimse Bumpy Diaper Covers may be washed in washing machine up to 60°C/140°F. Follow General Washing Instructions. Hang and let Air Dry. Manufacturer does NOT recommend drying in a dryer. This drying recommendation may be a European influence. Europeans generally air dry any clothing that reasonably can be air dried.

Imse Vimse Wool Diaper Covers
Imse Vimse covers should be lanolized before use for them to function properly. This service can be done by PinStripes and PolkaDots but would negate the return policy. Of course, any manufacturer defects would still be covered. Wool wash products do not provide sufficient initial lanolizing.
When Imse Vimse wool diaper covers become soiled with poop. First rinse/soak in cold water to release poop. Rub any stains directly with an appropriate wool soap. Then soak in luke-warm water with a teaspoon of Eucalan woolwash solution or, my favorite, a lather from the Sudz n Dudz Wool Wash bars. Allow to soak 15 minutes or more.
Remove from water and gently press out excess water. Do not wring or twist. Roll diaper cover in a towel to remove excess moisture. (I have successfully spun the covers in the washer to release excess moisture) Finally, allow cover to hang or lay flat to air dry.

Imse Vimse wool diaper covers can be washed on gentle in the washing machine using an appropriate soap like Eucalan. Imse Vimse wool diaper covers washed in the machine would be washed only with other wool items not with your diapers.

Re-lanolize as needed. Generally, lanolizing is needed every 3-4 months with moderate use. If cover ever begins to leek, relanolize.
